An experimental laboratory

of the meaning
 making enterprise

notscinotart is an independent design and research practice founded by Nikhar Yadav, a London-based artist/designer/writer currently at the Royal College of Art.

Her multidisciplinary background informs an experimental approach that values the tactile and the technological in equal measure.

Positioned between product design, creative engineering & anthropology, the work takes form through objects, installations and interactions that explores how ‘meaning’ forms - and transforms - in the spaces between objects, environments, and inner human narratives.

the human behind the screen

SVARA

A triad of lamps for nervous system regulation through guided breath. This light-based tool uses principles of biofeedback to translate breathwork techniques into calming visual cues, supporting users in cultivating a consistent meditation practice — subverting the need for screens or apps.

Svara was exhibited at the London Design Festival 2025 with Kaalchakra कालचक्र

Developed through hands-on prototyping and physical computing, Svara embodies a hybrid design approach: integrating technology into ambient, tangible artefacts to broaden the language of human-computer interaction beyond traditional graphical interfaces - into the realm of felt, embodied experience.

It draws from Hiroshi Ishii’s vision of Tangible Bits and AmbientROOM — extending his call to dissolve computation into the fabric of everyday life. In choosing tangible interfaces for wellness, the aim was not to add technology for its own sake, but to integrate it in ways that genuinely enrich the user’s sensory and emotional experience.

frankendining

Co-created with Jubilee Tai, Rose (Yijia) Huang and Neha Parekh.

A trio of objects created by BoneAppleTeeth - a collaborative effort between RCA designers from disciplines spanning fashion, product, service and design engineering.

Merging surrealism with functional parody, the Frankenchair, Frankentable, and Frankenfork propose alternative eating rituals through exaggerated ergonomics and comical friction. The set playfully disorients the act of dining, prompting users to question the designed norms of mealtime behavior and bodily performance.

Frankenchair, Frankentable and Frankenfork exist as both standalone and interconnected experiences, inviting the user to engage with their eating rituals in new and whimsical way

phys.io

  Co-created with Dr Gauransh Arora.

A behavioural-first physiotherapy app that reimagines the remote recovery experience.

Developed over two months through interviews with patients and physiotherapists, Phys.io addresses user adherence by embedding behavioural nudges, personalisation, and conversational interactions into its system design. The project prioritises engagement without dependence on invasive tech or high-cost intervention.

paytm deals

Co-created with Kopal Jain, Piyush Passi & Navneet Jain.

A redesign sprint driven by ambitious business targets: quadrupling the deals vertical in just two months. This project focused on transforming the ‘Claim’ flow- ironically eliminating the word claim altogether.

By combining strategic research, mental model alignment, and interaction restructuring, the new interface delivered clarity, impact, and measurable uplift, leading to a 12% uptick in native bill payments within a month of launch.
